Democrats in the United States tout that the solution to America’s health care problems is to socialize medicine. Have the government provide the medical insurance for everyone. But the fact is, socialized health care systems don’t work. Canada’s universal health care system was the envy of the world. But today five million Canadians don’t have a family doctor. Regardless that everyone has medical insurance, when people get sick they either clog up hospital emergency rooms or go to walk-in clinics that don’t know the patients medical history. And the health care system is about to get much worse with a large number of family doctors retiring. The United States already has a shortage of family physicians because medical students are choosing other fields of medicine. Would socializing the health care system compound the problem? Below is a documentary by filmmakers Sharon Bartlett and Maria LeRose. They investigate the present crisis.
