Did I mention how much we love Aunt Sara around here? She really knows how to stir things up. Fourth of July is a time to celebrate our freedom, our democracy, and our lives here in one of the greatest countries. Sure, we have our flaws, everyone does. No one here is perfect, not even Aunt Sara, but we do our best. We drive thousands of miles across the country to help a friend in need, or a town struggling after disaster, or a city crumbling under attack. We lend our hands, our wallets, our blood, sweat and tears to our fellow Americans, our neighbors, and our friends. It is a great country when we can come together in good times and bad and stand side-by-side through it all. We might not have the money to head out of town this weekend, or shoot off some big time fireworks, but that’s not what it’s about.
This 4th of July, remember what it used to mean to you. Remember shutting down your neighborhood streets to sit out front and BBQ with family and neighbors. Remember running around with water balloons and sparklers with a hot dog in hand. Maybe this year we take it back to the good old days, when the 4th of July was about celebrating this amazing country.
