Those without medical insurance have yet to turn their aggravation into political action.
If those without health insurance were a political lobbying group, they’d have more members than AARP. But the uninsured do not provide political benefit for politicians.
By giving billions of dollars to help those without health insurance find coverage would not get a congressman reelected. And those that often lobby congressman, such as union member and older people, already have medical insurance.
In the last election, only 10 percent of registered voters said they had no health insurance.
Research also indicates that 50 percent of people who lose health insurance, find replacement medical coverage within four months. Because the uninsured are constantly changing, it makes it more difficult to form advocacy groups to lobby politicians to create universal health
