While health care reform and town hall riots are all the rage this week, we thought we’d take a time-out to remember Les Paul who passed away. Les Paul, the 98-year-old personification of the “guitar hero,” changed music forever with his Les Paul’s guitars and new spin on the guitarist.

Les Paul was the one man who took the guitar to the next level. Most of us don’t remember when the guitar wasn’t the main focal point of a band. Today, there is no band without a guitar. There’s no music without a guitar solo or backup. But it wasn’t always like that.

Let’s lighten the air a little bit today, shall we? Speaking of air, Tiger Woods fart has become famous and is sweeping across the internet today, ranking in the top 5 of Google Trends. One headline cracked me up; Tiger Woods Farts and We All Laugh Like Twelve-Year-Olds. But, you know, sometimes you just have to laugh at something. And thanks to Tiger Woods flatulence, we are all laughing.

At the 2009 Buick Open, Tiger Woods was not discreet about letting one rip in the middle of the tournament. And it wasn’t just heard on the course, millions of internet and YouTube viewers have spent some time searching for the famous fart videos.

So Madonna has some scary biceps, who cares! Apparently everyone on the internet today does.  Madonna and her arms were the top searched for term on Google for most of the day. The photo of Madonna’s biceps took the cake for page views and unnecessary publicity, but hey, no publicity is bad publicity, right?

“Oftentimes when your body fat is really, really, low, as Madonna’s is, you’re going to see veins pop,” explained Leslie Bonci, director of sports nutrition at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. “Her body fat is minimal, and she does a lot of strength training workouts that are going to build her muscles to look more visible.”

The Tour De France ended on Sunday, and after a 3 year hiatus, the 37-year-old Texan Lance Armstrong stood upon the podium, but not quite in his usual position. Armstrong placed third in the Tour De France, a little out of his 7-time first place standing. But after over 3 years, placing third really isn’t all that bad and the buzz racing around the cycling world is that Lance Armstrong is expected to take first and get back to his old ways in 2010.

With the year’s Tour De France just barely over, media around the world has taken extreme interest in Lance Armstrong’s race for the title in the Tour De France 2010. I wonder how that makes this year’s winner Alberto Contador?

It’s no secret that Lance Armstrong is racing in the Tour De France yet again. With an amazing seven titles under his belt, or his spandex riding suit, a record eighth doesn’t seem like much of a surprise to many people. Even his critics and competition have made statements admitting that Lance Armstrong has a great chance of winning the Tour De France again.

After stage 10 of the Tour De France, Lance Armstrong remains a serious contender. Despite his age, 38, and his battle to beat cancer, and the fact that he has been out of the game for a few years, Lance Armstrong remains in the top three.

Remember when going for your morning run was the best way to start your day? Then Oprah and everyone else started saying that running was bad for your back and worse for your knees. Then there was that ultra famous and super entertaining quick walking. You know, with the arms swinging high and the hips swooshing from side-to-side. Good stuff.

Well, apparently running is back in, and has been for a little while. But, now that Gov. Sara Palin has graced the cover of Runner’s World magazine and proclaims to be an avid runner, things in the running world are heating up. By now you definitely know what’s up with the King of Pop, right? Well, if you’ve been living under a rock (which is no excuse because I’ve been living under a rock and still know the deal), Michael Jackson died Thursday, June 25. While the cause of death is still unknown, medical examiners are working hard to understand whether his death was a result of over-medication.

Many celebrities like Michael Jackson have their own version of concierge doctors and pre-paid medical prescriptions, just to get them through the day. Apparently Michael is just one of the many celebs who literally take concierge medicine to an entirely new level. The same attorney general’s office that is currently investigating Michael Jackson’s death only recently investigated the controversial death of Anna Nicole Smith for the same issue.

Our social media friends over at Mashable have chronicled the intersting ways that doctors and patients use social media tools suchs as Twitter to facilitate some medical miracles.

“World traveler Leigh Shulman (@thefutureisred) has twice turned to Twitter in a crisis. Shulman’s family had just moved to Argentina and her husband, Noah, became very ill to the point that he was verbally unresponsive. She had no local phone access but got some support from a neighbor and Twitter. Friends offered support online, but what was more important were the Twitterers who had lived in Argentina and Chile and offered specific advice on dealing with the health care systems there.
