Headlines “US Business Groups Bristle At Senate Health-Care Bill”. Seems that many are balking at the idea of national health care that Obama and the liberals in congress are proposing for the United States.  Looks as though, groups representing U.S. employers are meeting today to discuss strategies to contend with the proposed congress health-care legislation. So far the discussions have been met with extreme, marked dislike and resistance to the suggested reform to health care both from the medical society and the private sector.

The nation’s largest doctors/medical group (AMA) isn’t sold on Obama’s call for public health care plans and it looks as if this could be a giant hurdle to his reform proposals. Dr. Nielsen the president of the AMA is strongly opposing the proposals at this time.  “Dr. Nancy Nielsen says the American Medical Association has “major concerns about government control over health care decisions.” Obama is scheduled to address this issue with the AMA on Monday. The AMA wants a system that offers both affordable and high quality health care. Dr. Nielsen stated that a more positive approach to health care reform would be best achieved through that of the private insurance market not that of government inference. Nielsen didn’t say she would lobby against Obama’s plan but left that open to interpretation, however she did state the AMA wants more details before a decision could be made.

Health care is a major issue being discussed by your congress even as I write. You may not be concerned but I am. I do not want the government determining my health coverage. I also know many doctors are concerned about the government deciding what and how they can treat a patient. These politicians have no medical degree so what makes them think they can make a proper and good decision for health care? This should not be a government decision but should be between you/me and the doctor. No doubt health care cost needs to be reformed.  Reformation should not be in the hands of politicians. I for one do not want them determining my health care.  Are you concerned about them determining or allowing them to determine what your health care will be?

The insurance cost for health care is out of sight and continuously goes up each year when your employer  renegotiates with insurance companies. The cost increase is not always the determination of the insurance company to just randomly raise your rate just because they want to, but other determining factors. That is a whole other issue and discussion.

I’m not going to lie. I’m completely addicted to Red Bull. I don’t smoke, don’t really drink alcohol too often, and don’t have much of a sweet tooth, but I don’t know where I would be in life if not for Red Bull. Hey, at least I stick to the sugar free ones.

That small rush that comes with every popping of the can, as the sweet scent of taurine and vitamin B6 engulfs my senses, telling my brain it’s time to get some work done. I use to bartend, and nothing kept me going like a monster can of Sugar Free Red Bull. I’d be bouncing off the walls for hours, which worked great for keeping customers entertained and making that money. Now, as I sit in front of the computer day after day, it’s just an extra incentive I allow myself after lunch.

How the medical mafia got a seat at the table

That’s the headline we’ll be reading in a few years, maybe in history books to come if President Obama’s Health Care Reform Plan works out.  The medical mafia (health care and insurance executives) wasn’t stupid when they “voluntarily” offered to help cut $2 trillion in health care costs. They just assured themselves a seat in the White House, across from the big guy during every discussion regarding their field and upcoming health care reform decisions. Pretty smart, huh?

For the health care and insurance executives, the savings initiative helps them secure a seat at the table where many decisions about their future will be made in the next year. They also ingratiated themselves with Democrats in the White House and Congress who are moving swiftly to reshape the nation’s health care system. – New York Times

Our own Dr. Sam Sannoufi did it, so why not every other doctor in this country? Why shouldn’t doctor’s be doing what’s best for the patient? Why do we become extremely skeptical when they get together on national television and pledge slow the growth of health costs by $2 trillion by drawing down the rate of cost increases in the sector by 1.5% each year? Maybe because we don’t trust it.

Dr. Sannoufi started the No Insurance Club with the patient in mind. He listened to what they needed, realized that the way things were going many of them wouldn’t be able to stay insured, and changed the way the system works.

Those without medical insurance have yet to turn their aggravation into political action.

If those without health insurance were a political lobbying group, they’d have more members than AARP. But the uninsured do not provide political benefit for politicians.

By giving billions of dollars to help those without health insurance find coverage would not get a congressman reelected. And those that often lobby congressman, such as union member and older people, already have medical insurance.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and other celebrities gathered in Los Angeles lobbying for healthcare reform.

Their basic message was that the United States health insurance system is not working. The United States spends more money per capita on healthcare than any other nation but lags in terms of quality.

They also gathered to show support for President Obama who wants to expand coverage to the 48 million uninsured.
