Barney Frank Takes Town Hall
Barney Frank has never been known for his quiet ways, his calm demeanor, nor his eloquent language (sarcasm), but at a town hall meeting held on Tuesday, Barney Frank’s true colors came out, and those colors were fire-red.
As Barney Frank took to the podium at the Massachusetts town hall meeting, opposition began booing and yelling (see “Town Hell Instruction Manual” for more information on how to work the town hall meetings). Frank, who has been known to have his say, attempted to speak over the crowd about health care reform.
“You want me to talk about it or do you want to yell?” he asked over and over when interrupted while trying to answer. Continued shouting brought a sterner rebuke.(CNN International)
“Disruption never helps your cause,” he said more than once. “It just looks like you’re afraid to have rational discussion.” (CNN International)
Barney Frank’s town hall meeting was suppose to discuss Obama’s health care reform ideas, supposed to be an open and democratic discussion about the facts, but when a women compared President Obama to Hitler (no doubt she read our “Town Hell Instruction Manual”) and held up a sign comparing Obama’s presidency to that of the Nazi’s, Barney Frank retaliated in a way that many Democrats have shied away from.
“You stand there with a picture of the president defaced to look like Hitler and compare the effort to increase health care to the Nazis,” he said, adding such behavior demonstrated the strength of First Amendment guarantees of what he called “contemptible” free speech. (CNN International)
“Trying to have a conversation with you would be like trying to argue with a dining room table,” Frank said to the woman. “I have no interest in doing it.”
Barney Frank even went so far as to read excerpts from the health care reform bill, rebutting every question asked with direct facts from the bill. There was no denying his knowledge of the 1,000 page health care reform bill, or his understanding of how it affects American health insurance.
“What’s the matter with you all?” he said. “I don’t know if you get angrier when I answer the questions, or when you don’t think I do.”
He yelled at one point, when, after answering many questions, the opposition was still not satisfied. (Key point in “Town Hell Instruction Manual”, never say yes. As a town hall rioter, you must always stand firm in “NO!”)
Obama’s Hitler Relation
According to the buzz online, many of these Nazi comments have not only stemmed from those wonderful TV personalities like Bill O’Reilly and radio host Rush Limbaugh (and oil-funded grassroots organizations), but from another group known as LaRouchePAC.com.
