Being physically active before a breast cancer diagnosis improves survival after breast cancer, according to a new health study.
The medical study of 1,231 women with breast cancer found that those who had 4 hours or more of weekly moderate-intensity recreational activity over their lifetime had a 44 percent lower risk of fatality from breast cancer.
The health risk of recurrence, progression, or new primary breast cancer was also reduced by 34 percent among women who had high levels of physical activity.
Occupational activity and physical household work such as gardening, housework, and home repair did not award the same health benefits of lifetime exercise.
