Don’t you love it? President Obama’s health care logo is raising eyebrows across the internet today. Leave it to good old Rush Limbaugh, Aunt Sara’s favorite radio personality, to stir up the pot today and insight fear and loathing on the internet. Give Uncle Rush some extra hydrocodone and that wide-eyed audience and you’ve got a recipe for disaster. Maybe that’s what’s helping him to see theses images that simply aren’t there.
So, what did Rush Limbaugh say about Obama’s health care logo? Well, apparently the new health care logo is similar, in his eyes, to the Reichsadler, the symbol of the German National Socialist, otherwise known as the Nazi’s.
You’ve got to give it to the guy. Rush Limbaugh knows how to stir up his audience. Like puppets on a string, they will follow the Pied Piper until the end. There is not many people out there who can rile up the masses like good old rush. His talent with descriptive phrases and wild imagination is highly entertaining, even if he loves his prescription drugs and hallucinates. What happens to your brain on drugs….well apparently it does get boiled like an egg, until you start seeing things and rant about your hallucinations.
The problem with Rush Limbaugh’s no doubt drug induced rant about the health care logo resembling a Nazi emblem, is that there is no weight to his claims. While Obama’s health care logo might be the number one topic searched for on Google, there isn’t much there to find. Why? Because there isn’t much there to talk about. Well, at least at the time of this blog being written there isn’t much there. But, since this is the top searched topic on Google, there will soon be millions of blogger putting in their two cents.
President Obama’s health care reform plan definitely has its controversial issues, but a health care logo that may or may not resemble a Nazi emblem is definitely stepping beyond the line.
So, what we have here is right-wing party members, who professionally organize public relations events that have come to be known as “town hells”, grasping for any small string and just pulling to see where it will lead. At this point, many are use to the not-so-spontaneous riots and mobs that have been erupting since the 2000 election, but to compare something as irrelevant as a logo to the Nazi’s is ridiculous.
Sure, Obama hasn’t had much luck with creating logos. He’s had a few interesting designs here and there. But, my take on this entire situation is that the health care logo is just another straw to grab at. Take a look at it and decide for yourself. You might need a few prescription drugs before you notice the health care logo start to change.
